Patriots Day

December 28, 2016 Leave a comment

I have a friend who plays in the upcoming movie “Patriots Day” (“Traque à Boston” in France) with Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon and John Goodman. It is the story about the Boston Marathon bombing that took place in 2013.

Hopefully he made the final cut in the movie. He won’t know it till he sees it. Suspense…

Edit:  So…Patriots Day comes out on January 13th in the U.S. (and on March 8th in France), and although my friend hasn’t seen it yet, he has heard from reliable sources that his part has been almost entirely cut. That’s showbiz!         Bummer!

Better check it by ourselves at the movie theater when the movie will be released. :-)

This week

October 14, 2016 Leave a comment

A little summary of this week:

  • On Tuesday, I went to my first yoga class. Since I haven’t done yoga for years, I expected to be all rusty and to be sore all over for the next two days but nothing of the kind happened. They call it a “yoga” class but to me, it’s more a “breathing” class. For two long hours we did one simple yoga pose, then four long breathing movements, one simple yoga pose then four long breathing movements, etc. And technically I can not get sore from breathing. So I’m a bit disappointed by this class ; I don’t know if I’ll go to the other sessions. I can breathe at my place too.
  • I am done with ‘The Sopranos’. I finally watched the entire six seasons of this series in time, before it’s not anymore available on my free and legal TV ‘replay’ section. Now I wait to get to watch “The Walking Dead” from the beginning.
  • Today, I woke up with a Big headache and I have spent the all day with it. The kind of headache that : 1) confines you to bed 2) resists to any medication you would take to make it go away 3) makes you throw up. In a nutshell, today is not a good day. But it could be worse, so I don’t complain.

Namasté?

Each year, every town has its “forum des associations”, that’s where you go to find cooking class, computer class, language class, dancing class, gardening class, painting class, zumba class, … in your own town.

My mother who knows me too well, told me not to miss this forum. And I almost did. I thought the forum was on the second Sunday of September but it yoga-1was on the first one. >.<     And I found it out the day before the Big day.

Since my mother insisted that I have to “find an activity to do” there, I found a yoga class not too far from my place – less than 15 minutes by foot. It’s a Hatha yoga class that will start in early October. It won’t be my first yoga class; several years ago in the U.S. I took yoga classes and I really liked it. I hope it’ll be the same here.

Regarding the series The Sopranos, I am not done yet. I still have the last season to watch before the end of October. It’ll be fine. I’ll watch the entire series on time.

A marathon

Hey, I found out that I could watch for free and legally the complete series The Sopranos.
I heard nothing but good critics about this series so I decided to watch it. But this offer
is available until the end of October…for once it’s free and legal…

So far I watched the first three seasons..that means that there are three more seasons left.. in other words, 46 episodes (2 x 13 + 20) to watch before the end of October. That’s an episode a day if I take into account the nights I’ll spend raiding on World Of Warcraft (2 long nights a week).
Oh well, I’ll just have to keep on watching The Sopranos daily before it’s gone.

Movies too difficult to understand

May 2, 2016 Leave a comment

I was happy to write an entry to say that I finally understood the movie Fight Club although some elements don’t really make sense to me but I get the whole picture but then I watched Enemy with Jake Gyllenhaal. The movie I didn’t understand. The movie I can’t sum up:  « there’s Jake Gyllenhaal and his twin, and spiders… ».

I understood Christopher Nolan’s Memento ;  just use your brain during the movie and you understand the plot. But Enemy! Pff! I bet there is not one single human being on earth who can understand right away this movie. We need the notice that goes with it and not just one sentence but a detailed explanation of who’s who and when and why… What a movie! And when I think that I found  Fight Club difficult to understand! (There’s still Mulholland Dr. that I don’t understand after having watched this movie at least 3 times but that’s a detail).

Oh and Enemy’s ending has been called by many “the scariest ending of any film ever made.” I must have been very sleepy for not having reacted at all to this ending because if there is one thing in the world that scares me the most is what we see then. Very tired.

A mystery solved

Finally! I understood everything in the movie Shutter Island. After having watched this movie 3 or 4 times, I finally understood everything – what is real, what is not, who’s who, what Leonardo DiCaprio said at the very end and why. I’ll go to bed less stupid tonight, as we say in French. There is still another movie that does not make sense to me : Fight Club. Although I know what’s odd about Brad Pitt’s character, I don’t understand how it works, it’s not logical yet in my mind and I have no idea of what happens at the end of the movie. But I can explain in details Shutter Island. :-)
